The story of a family and a family business.
Oscar-winner Wes Anderson's latest opus is set in 1950, where enigmatic industrialist Anatole ‘Zsa-zsa’ Korda survives another attempt on his life - and his sixth plane crash. The European tycoon's ruthless dealings have made him a target for his lengthy list of global enemies.
Facing immense personal financial risk and ongoing threats during his career-defining project - the Korda Land and Sea Phoenician Infrastructure Scheme - Korda appoints his estranged nun daughter, Liesl, as his successor. Accompanied by tutor Bjorn, they traverse Modern Greater Independent Phoenicia to close The Gap (a rapidly expanding financial shortfall). All the while, Liesl investigates her mother's decade-old unsolved murder.
Zsa-zsa Korda is portrayed by Benicio del Toro as an iconic, compelling antihero. Joining him is a star-studded cast of Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, Bill Murray, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe, Tonio Arango and Aysha Joy Samuel.
Based on an original story written by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola.
The film will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures.
