WATCH: Teaser for Netflix's Maniac Starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill
The show is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who helmed the entire first season of True Detective.
Netflix's Emma Stone/Jonah Hill starring remake of Norwegian series Maniac has dropped it's first trailer.
The black comedy tells the stories of the 'aimless, disaffected' Annie Landsberg (Stone) and schizophrenic Owen Milgrim (Hill), two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. They’re assured, with no complications or side-effects whatsoever, the pill will solve all of their problems, permanently. Things do not go as planned.
Maniac will reunite Stone and Hill who both had roles in Superbad. Also appearing in the show is Justin Theroux (Mute), Julia Garner (Ozark), Jemima Kirke (Girls) and Sally Field (Forrest Gump). Beasts of No Nation and True Detective director Cary Joji Fukunaga will helm all ten episodes.
The brief teaser for the series gives first glimpses of Hill and Stone's characters, as well as the style of the show featuring bright, trippy use of colours. The latter is presumed related to the experimental drugs the protagonists consume.
Patrick Somerville (The Bridge) is writing the series, out September 21, 2018.
The trailer can be seen below.
Meanwhile, the trailer for Jonah Hill's directorial debut Mid-90s came out last week.
