Trailer for The Social Network sequel released
The Social Reckoning releases on October 9.
The trailer for The Social Reckoning, the follow up to the hit film The Social Network, has been released.
The new drama is based on the Wall Street Journal series The Facebook Files, which examined the damage caused by the social network and analysed reports that internal files had been buried.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will be played by Jeremy Strong, who was Oscar-nominated for his performance in The Apprentice.
In the trailer, his character prepares to give testimony after whistleblower Frances Haugen disclosed confidential documents to journalist Jeff Horwitz.
In the trial Haugen told Congress that Facebook consistently chose to maximize its growth rather than implement safeguards on its platforms, just as it hid from the public and government officials internal research that illuminated the harms of Facebook products.
"The result has been more division, more harm, more lies, more threats and more combat. In some cases, this dangerous online talk has led to actual violence that harms and even kills people," Haugen testified.
Frances Haugen will be played by Mikey Madison, who won the Best Actress Oscar in 2025 for her performance in Anora.
Horwitz will be played by The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, with the rest of the cast being filled by Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr and Betty Gilpin.
The Social Network was a commercial and critical hit in 2010, making over $200 million and winning three Oscars.
The Social Reckoning will be released on October 9.
