Selena Gomez confirms her role as Linda Ronstadt in new biopic

American pop singer and actress Selena Gomez confirmed the role via Instagram earlier this week, posting a shot of Linda Ronstadt's 2013 memoir ‘Simple Dreams’ to her story.

A multi-genre legend, Ronstadt is best known for her critically acclaimed 70’s albums Heart Like a Wheel and Simple Dreams, earning herself 11 Grammys throughout her decades long career.

Currently in pre-production, the film’s producers include John Boylan, Ronstadt’s manager, and James Keach, known for his work on the Oscar-winning Johnny Cash biopic ‘Walk the Line’ and the 2019 documentary ‘Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice’.

Gomez, recently nominated for a Golden Globe after her starring role in Hulu’s ‘Only Murders in the Building,’ shares Ronstadt’s Mexican descent and affinity for music, known for her chart-topping album Rare and hit singles ‘Love You Like a Love Song’ and ‘Lose You to Love Me’.
