Peter Coonan to return to the silver screen with King Frankie
The Love/Hate actor will be starring in the Irish drama King Frankie later this year.
Set for a theatrical release in 2024, King Frankie is Dermot Malone’s feature debut as a writer and director, which had its world premiere earlier this year at the Dublin International Film Festival. It has since received a wide range of critical acclaim.
The film tells the story of Frankie (Coonan), a Dublin taxi driver who’s forced to face old demons on the day of his father’s removal. It is a tale of self-forgiveness and redemption, described by the filmmakers as a “Celtic tiger tale you have not seen.”

Accompanying Coonan (Love/Hate, Bad Sisters) in this film will be Conor MacNeill (The Sixth Commandment), Ruairi O’Connor (The Conjuring:The Devil Made Me Do It) and Olivia Caffrey (Trivia), amongst others.
Backed by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, King Frankie was shot on location in Dublin and Meath. It will be released by Wildcard distribution in Irish and UK cinemas later this year.
