New Hamnet trailer starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal released

A new trailer for Hamnet, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, has been released.

The historical drama, based on Maggie O'Farrell's 2020 novel, follows William Shakespeare (Mescal) and his wife Agnes Shakespeare (Buckley) following the death of their only son Hamnet.

Additionally, the film features Emily Watson and Joe Alwyn.

The feature is directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, who worked on films including Nomadland and Eternals. 

O’Farrell’s novel was a New York Times bestseller, has sold more than 2 million copies in the UK and US and has been translated into 40 languages.

It won the 2020 Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Fiction Prize at the 2020 National Book Critics Circle Awards.

Hamnet is set to be released in cinemas on Friday, January 9.
