Netflix announces release date and first look images of Colin Farrell film Ballad Of A Small Player

Netflix has shared first look images and revealed the release date of Ballad Of A Small Player starring Colin Farrell.

The film will be released in select UK & Ireland cinemas on October 17 and on Netflix October 29. Farrell is starring alongside Fala Chen, Deanie Ip, Alex Jennings and Tilda Swinton.

The feature is based on the novel by the same title, written by Lawrence Osborne in 2014.

"When his past and his debts start to catch up with him, a high-stakes gambler laying low in Macau encounters a kindred spirit who might just hold the key to his salvation," reads the films official description.

The screenplay was written by Rowan Joffe and directed by Edward Berger who most recently directed Conclave (2024.) Berger also directed war-time film All Quiet On The Western Front (2022), which won Best International Feature Film at the 2023 Oscars.

Earlier this week, the Dublin born actor was nominated for an Emmy as Lead Actor in a Limited Series, for his role in The Penguin.

Ballad Of A Small Player will the second feature film that Farrell will star in this year, with A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (also starring Margot Robbie) arriving in September.
