Kristen Stewart was advised to stop holding hands with her girlfriend to score Marvel role
Kristen Stewart opens up about hiding her sexuality in public.
Hollywood can be a nasty place. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, Kristen Stewart revealed how nasty. According to the actress, she was advised to tone down PDA with her girlfriend in order to score a Marvel role.
"I have fully been told, 'If you just like do yourself a favour, and don't go out holding your girlfriend's hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie.'", Stewart explains, adding, "I don't want to work with people like that."
Discussing her sexuality, she states that keeping her private life private hasn't always been the right choice for her in the past: "I think I just wanted to enjoy my life. And that took precedence over protecting my life, because in protecting it, I was ruining it."
She continues: "Like what, you can't go outside with who you're with? You can't talk about it in an interview? I was informed by an old school mentality, which is – you want to preserve your career and your success and your productivity, and there are people in the world who don't like you, and they don't like that you date girls, and they don't like that you don't identify as a quote unquote 'lesbian', but you also don't identify as a quote unquote 'heterosexual'. And people like to know stuff, so what the fuck are you?"
The American actress dated famous men as well as women in the past, such as fellow Twilight actor Robert Pattinson and model Stella Maxwell.
Kristen Stewart stars in the upcoming movie Charlie's Angels directed by Elizabeth Banks. The film is set to release on November 29.
