Jack Reynor to star in IRA thriller Borderlands alongside John Boyega, Felicity Jones and Jodie Turner-Smith

Irish actor Jack Reynor is set to feature in Irish paramilitary film Borderlands with an exciting ensemble cast of John Boyega (Star Wars), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim) and Felicity Jones (The Theory Of Everything).

The movie will follow the character of Michael - played by Reynor - who witnesses the shooting of his pregnant wife at the hands of an SAS sergeant named Tempest (Boyega) when a border ambush goes badly wrong.

When Tempest is sent back to London to lead a covert counter-terrorist operation, Michael joins a ruthless active service unit (ASU) wreaking havoc in the capital.

Michael will stop at nothing to seek revenge for his wife's murder, and his eyes are set on Tempest.

The Guard Brothers (The Uninvited) are billed to direct as a duo, after co-writing the screenplay with BAFTA-nominated scribe Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies).

Chris Coen, Rebecca Brown, Felicity Jones’s Piecrust Productions and Rocket Science will produce the film, with Jones as executive producer.

The plan is for film to shoot on location in the UK early next year, if Covid-19 allows it.

The screenplay was inspired by the book The Road To Balcombe Street by Steven S. Moysey.

“Borderland is a vengeance fueled chase movie, fusing some pulse ticking action with a powerful message for our times," the Guard Brothers commented on the news to Deadline.

"We’re thrilled that the script, driven as much by character as it is by plot, has attracted such a first rate cast.”

A previous incarnation of the project was due to feature Jamie Dornan and Sam Claflin.

Reynor was propelled to fame after starring in Lenny Abrahamson's powerful drama What Richard Did, before appearing in Transformers 4 and the 2019 psychological hit Midsommar.
