Emma Stone to reunite with Yorgos Lanthimos for Kinds of Kindness
Element Pictures' film set to release June 21
The latest collaboration between Oscar-winning actors Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe, director Yorgos Lanthimos, and Dublin-based production company Element Pictures, Kinds of Kindness, has released its trailer to eager audiences. The film is set to hit theatres on June 21.
The synopsis for Kinds of Kindness reads: The film is “a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”
The cast includes Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. Alwyn previously collaborated with Stone and Lanthimos on The Favourite which was also produced by Element Pictures.
Lanthimos co-wrote the script with Efthimis Filippou, his long-time collaborator. They also collaborated on his films The Lobster, Killing of a Sacred Deer and Dogtooth.
"Apart from being a great actress, [Emma] is a very unique presence overall," Lanthimos told Entertainment Weekly. "And as soon as I mentioned the story to her, she was immediately excited and just wanted to know everything about the world and read the script. I started discussing who else was going to work on it, how we're going to film it, like other actors. She just became very fascinated with every aspect of the film. So that's also how she ended up being a producer on the film because she was onboard so early on and involved in every aspect of it that it was inevitable that she took that role on as well."
