Cillian Murphy confirmed to return for 28 Years Later sequel + first look trailer
The film will also see the return of Jack O'Connell as the twisted cult leader Sir Jimmy Crystal
The first look trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple has been released. It has also been confirmed that Cillian Murphy will reprise his role of Jim, from the original 2002 film 28 Days Later.
The Bone Temple will be the sequel to Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, which aired in cinemas earlier this year.
The Cork actor does not appear in the trailer and the circumstances of his character return are not yet known.
The trailer sees the return of Jack O'Connell as Sir Jimmy Crystal, Alfie Williams as Spike and Ralph Fiennes as Dr Kelson. The film picks up with Crystal's twisted cult and delves into the backstory of Kelson.
"A messenger on a bicycle awakens from a coma to discover that the world has been invaded by zombies following the outbreak of a virus," reads the official description.
The Bone Temple was shot back to back with 28 Years Later and will see Nia DaCosta in the director's chair, while Boyle will take on a producing role.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will release in Irish cinemas on January 16, 2026.
