Cathy Brady also picked up two nominations for Wildfire.
The British Independent Film Awards have announced their 2021 nominations – with Belfast, Kenneth Branagh's autobiographical film about a young boy growing up in The Troubles – receiving 11 nominations.
The film scored a Best Actress nomination for Caitríona Balfe, Best Supporting Actress for Judi Dench, Best Supporting Actor for Ciarán Hinds and a Breakthrough Performance nomination for newcomer Jude Hill.
Belfast also received seven craft nominations, including Best Casting (Lucy Bevan, Emily Brockmann), Best Cinematography (Haris Zambarloukos), Best Editing (Úna Ní Dhonghaíle), Best Make-Up and Hair Design (Wakana Yoshihara), Best Production Design (Jim Clay) and another nomination for BIFA 2020’s Best Costume Design winner Charlotte Walter.
Van Morrison was nominated in the Best Music category – having contributed classic eight songs, as well as a new one, to Belfast.

Newry-born filmmaker Cathy Brady, meanwhile, received two nominations for her film Wildfire, for Best Debut Director (The Douglas Hickox Award) and Best Debut Screenwriter.
Winners will be announced at the British Independent Film Awards Ceremony on Sunday, December 5. See more nominations here.
