We should, of course, be thinking far harder about climate change. The Government has a strategy.
Fine. But what about winning hearts and minds? There’s a lot of preaching about giving up our aul sins and not enough persuasion, innovation or incentives.
The inescapable question is: who’s going to sacrifice what? And that’s when the whinging starts. It has always been hard to deal with vested interests in Ireland. But it will have to be done.
The cost of living crisis may not be an existential one like climate change – but along with housing, it’s the issue uppermost in most people’s minds.
The Government has done well so far in providing supports, but can this last?
Clearly, for all the high profile busts in 2022, the war on drugs is nor working. We say: legalise and tax them. It really could be a win-win scenario.
