Petition launched to save Dublin arts space The Complex
The petition can be found at the link below.
A petition has been launched to save Dublin's cultural and arts space The Complex following the an announcement that the venue received a notice to quit by January 14, 2026.
The petition aims to get Dublin City Council, Politicians and The Arts Council to take acton to save the venue.
The news follows the loss of a number of cultural spaces in recent years, including Jigsaw, Block T, Mambos, Tivoli Theatre, Hangar and Bernard Shaw.
"The Complex [is] an arts space that is home to exhibitions, gigs, sober raves, storytelling events, over-the-top wrestling and even an early Fontaines D.C. show," reads the petition.
"It’s one of the last large independent event spaces we have left." "Each time a space disappears, so does a community. Dublin doesn’t just have a housing crisis it also has a culture crisis."
At the time of writing, it has reached over 3,460 signatures.
Earlier this month, The Complex saw a performance by Dublin indie rock band Fizzy Orange.
"One of few spaces in the city we could host our dream 360 degree show," said the band on an Instagram post. "We played a sold out headline there in November bang smack in the middle of the room, surrounded by the best. We hope to see many more bands stand in the centre of that room, it’s not too late."
In August, the venue hosted a pop-up which featured Noel and Liam Gallagher's collaboration with Adidas. Additionally, artists including Philip Christie of The Bonk (formerly of O Emperor) and Junior Brother, have used The Complex's studios.
"The Complex can be saved, but needs serious conversations between government and DCC now to facilitate the purchase of the venue," said the venue via Instagram.
The petition to save The Complex can be found here.
