New production of Disco Pigs set for the Everyman stage
An exciting new production coming all the way from London, Enda Walsh's Disco Pigs is set for a return to Cork.
Directed by Cathal Cleary and starring Ciaran Owens and Amy Molloy, this play tells the story of Darren and Sinead, aka Pig and Runt, who live in a fantasy world all of their own in Cork City. Trash TV, disco beats and a load of cheap booze have fuelled their obsessive friendship. But as they go for their 17th birthday binge, reality violently collides with their fantasy and their world begins to crumble.
Disco Pigs is a violent dash through a lifelong friendship at the moment of its savage destruction. This production first played a sell-out extended run at the Young Vic Theatre, London, in 2011, and is back on tour marking the 20th anniversary since the original production by Corcadorca in 1996.
Disco Pigs comes to the Everyman, Cork, at 8.00pm on Monday the September 19 until Thursday September 22. Tickets priced at €22, €20 concession, or €9 for students. Tickets available from www.everymancork.com or from the Box office.
