National Library To Launch Major Heaney Exhibition
President Michael D. Higgins will do the honours at the launch of the major exhibition entitled ‘Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again’ at the newly created Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre at College Green, Dublin 2, on Wednesday, 4th July 2018.
At 10am, the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre will be formally opened by Josepha Madigan TD, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
The centre is a partnership project between the Bank of Ireland and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
At 11.20am, ‘Listen Now Again’ will be officially launched by President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins at.
‘Listen Now Again’ explores the life, works and legacy of Seamus Heaney through the NLI’s extensive archive of Heaney documents which was donated by the Heaney family in 2011.
The exhibition will feature the poet’s original manuscripts together with letters, notebooks, and photographs.
Visitors will enjoy interactive multi-media elements and newly commissioned artwork, as well as seeing the poet’s writing desk and other personal possessions loaned by the Heaney family.
‘Listen Now Again’ will be the first exhibition to be housed in the new Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre.
The Heaney family will be in attendance at the events.
