"The book is both personal and political and I hope it will give the reader new insights into that time," said the former Fine Gael leader
Former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has announced the release of his memoir, Speaking My Mind, scheduled to come out on September 11 later this year.
The book will reflect on his political career and personal journey, covering what he describes as "one of the most interesting periods in history", including the aftermath of the economic crash, Brexit, landmark referendums and the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This book is both personal and political and I hope it will give the reader new insights into that time," Varadkar said. "I have tried to be honest and frank including mistakes and regrets as well as triumphs."

When he was first elected in 2017, Varadkar became Ireland’s youngest-ever Taoiseach. He was also the first to be openly gay and the first from an ethnic minority background. He served until 2020 and again from 2022, until his abrupt retirement from politics in April of last year.
The memoir will recount pivotal moments from his time in office, including private discussions with Pope Francis and exchanges with former US President Barack Obama.
