Harry Styles Among the Stars Considered for Elvis Role in Baz Luhrmann Biopic
The One Direction singer could possibly play Elvis Presley in a biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann.
A new biopic about rock'n'roll star Elvis Presley is in the works and director Baz Luhrmann is currently searching for an actor who can capture the stage presence and spirit of the late music legend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, among the stars who are considered for the role is former One Direction member Harry Styles who made his acting debut in the 2017 war movie Dunkirk. The same year he released his first solo album Harry Styles. Supposedly the singer was part of a group of actors who did a screen test last week.
Other actors who are in the running to play Elvis Presley are Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver, The Fault in Our Stars), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron), Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent) and Austin Butler (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Shannara Chronicles).
One role in the biopic is already cast: Tom Hanks is going to play Elvis Presleys manager Colonel Tom Parker who the rock'n'roll icon had a important relationship with, that is also explored in the movie.
It's not the first time that Harry Styles is linked to the role of a rock legend. Previously he allegedly was set to play Mick Jagger in a music biopic.
