Célia Tiab drops soulful debut EP Cécé via Soft Boy Records
Featuring three unheard tracks, Célia Tiab's latest EP follows previous singles 'BIBIBI' and 'Creamy'.
Belfast-based French-born musician Célia Tiab has shared her debut EP Cécé on Soft Boy Records.
The captivating artist dropped 'BIBIBI' and 'Creamy' earlier this year, blending elements of soul, jazz and folk music around her affecting songwriting and ethereal voice.
Speaking on the title of the EP, Célia says : “Cécé’ is the nickname I gave myself when I was little, and this debut EP feels like the beginning of the affirmation of my style and taste, but also the maturation I reached over the years of not releasing anything.”
Célia previously featured on the 2018 Brién track ‘Can I Lie With U’, after which Célia was welcomed into the Soft Boy Records family, where she went on to work with Gaptoof on ‘Forget U’ and Kojaque on his critically acclaimed debut album Town’s Dead, alongside the likes of Biig Piig and Maverick Sabre.
Three new tracks include 'Too Hard', 'Friend' and 'It's Not Always Easy'. The DNA remains sultry jazz fused with facets of soul and even R&B. Tiab's layered vocals add a deep sense of texture to the rhythms, with achingly gorgeous falsetto notes sprinkled all around the 5-track EP.
Acoustic guitar and piano bleeds into 'Friend'. If you're looking for a modern day Nancy Wilson, you might just have found her.
