WIN: Tickets to Will Butler & Sister Squares at the Grand Social

Will Butler & Sister Squares make their highly anticipated return to Dublin with a gig at The Grand Social tomorrow – we still have a pair of tickets up for grabs!

Made up of Sara Dobbs, Jenny Shore, Julie Shore and Miles Francis, Sister Squares become a musical unit with the addition of Grammy winner Will Butler. Together, they just finished recording a new album: Will Butler + Sister Squares.

In 2014, Butler was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score on Her.

“I had quit my band Arcade Fire very recently,” Butler explains, “after 20 years—maybe the most complex decision of my life. I had spent the preceding two years at home with my three children. I was 39 years old.

“I was waking up every morning and reading Emily Dickinson, until I had read every Emily Dickinson poem. I was listening to Morrissey, to Shostakovich, to the Spotify top 50. I had unformed questions with inchoate answers,” says Will. “But, honestly, I was feeling great about the record.”
