Hot Press is thrilled to be teaming up with Sarah McKenna, to offer one lucky music fan a handmade, ceramic rainbow-coloured decorative tile – inscribed with the iconic lines from Leonard Cohen's 'Anthem': "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in". The stunning ceramic square tile would hang beautifully on anyone's wall – especially music lovers!
Sarah McKenna has been creating her unique handmade Irish pottery for over 20 years in Bridge Street Studios, Dundalk. Located on the top floor of a 250-year-old grain store, Sarah shares the studio with seven art, design and craftspeople, who recently celebrated 25 years in operation.
Sarah’s work uses layers of messaging, created using patterns, bright colours and text which subtly say little things people want to tell each other without having to say them out loud. Often using quotes, poetry and lyrics, Sarah’s pieces convey feelings of joy once known and happy memories. Sarah transforms everyday objects into special gifts, which will be cherished now and lovingly preserved as an heirloom in the future.
