WATCH: Lisa Hannigan releases video for 'Undertow'
Lisa Hannigan has today released the video for 'Undertow', the latest single from her new album At Swim.
Helped by The National's Aaron Dessner, Lisa Hannigan brought out her career-defining third album At Swim back in August.
Her new single 'Undertow' features visuals of the Meath singer submerged in water as the glorious banjo strains and blissfully loved-up lyrics enrapture us: "I want to swim in your current/ Carry me out, up and away/ I want to float on every word you say."
According to NPR, who first streamed the video, Lisa and her producers wanted to capture the watery drift of words. Commenting on the video's unusual style, Lisa said: "we felt that the best way was for me to learn the song backwards so that all around me would move upwards, not down. It took a while for the reverse words and melody to sink in — but now I tend to sing the backwards version when on my own."
