Villagers album receives US release
Conor O'Brien has also been getting some rave American reviews.
Domino Records have confirmed that in addition to coming out here and in the UK in May, Villagers’ debut Becoming A Jackal album will get its US release on June 8.
Conor O’Brien has already received rave reviews in the States for his solo shows.
“With fast fingers, he plucked quickly alternating chords and ballooning, hypnotic crescendos,” noted the New York Times’ Jon Pareles after catching him in The Big Apple. “He has the particularly Irish gift, which he shares with The Frames and U2, for painful sincerity without mawkishness, and at times – this is high praise – he approaches the bitter romanticism of Leonard Cohen.”
National Public Radio’s Robert Hilton was just as enthusiastic, describing Villagers in a podcast as “gorgeous… just amazing!”
