Kanye West nominated for Design Award
Kanye West, who has been involved in fashion design for several years, just got nominated for the Beazley Design of the Year Award
The Award is a price given away by the London Design Museum. The museum describes themselves as "the world’s leading museum devoted to architecture and contemporary design, its work encompasses all elements of design, including fashion, product, and graphic design.”
The Award was won by IKEA’s flatpack refugee shelter last year. IKEA, David Adjaye and OMA are also nominees for this year's Design of the Year award. All designs will be on display at London’s Design Museum from October 18th, before a winner for each category and one overall winner is revealed early next year on January 25th.
Kanye West released his Yeezy Season 5 collection during New York Fashion Week in February this year. It was his first show since he was hospitalized in November 2016 after suffering a reported breakdown and cancelling the Life of Pablo tour. West is also involved in other businesses. From August 19th – 21st, 2016, he opened in partnership with Bravado 21 pop-up shops in various locations around the world to sell products tied to West’s latest album The Life of Pablo.
