Canadian producer Dan Snaith only released his first EP last year, but, as soon as it was released, it sold out. Cut off from the increasingly corporate, money driven end of dance music, Snaith’s success to date proves that there are still enough people willing to take the time to discover new music. Here’s hoping that Manitoba’s following will grow with the release of this, his debut album. Without losing sight of his often-haunting sound, Heart manages to represent unlikely dance floor grooves – ‘Paul’s Birthday’ sets live jazz stylings over tough, tight break beats and ‘Lemon Yoghurt’ boasts Aphex-style head worrying metallic riffs. Despite this diversity, there’s also more than enough of Manitoba’s dreamy, atmospheric nu-jazz to keep his burgeoning following happy.
