Jamie 'Jimpster' Odell releases his debut album under his Audiomontage guise. Snert is far removed from the dance floor, looking primarily to soul, jazz and almost easy listening textures. When Odell ups the tempo he manages to retain a musical edge, evident on the slap bass driven house groove of the recent single, 'Flyin' High' and the more jazz-funk oriented floor grooves of the title track. Although some of the live jazz tracks wind up sounding slightly self-indulgent, the sexy soul of 'What You Gonna Do?' and the electro influenced 'Return To Utopia' shows that there's enough diversity here to ensure that 'Snert' isn't consigned to dance music's chin stroking coffee table category.
