J.J. Abrams' secret monster movie isn't quite as secret as he'd hoped.
The greatest movie trailer ever made!” is how New York Magazine describes the two-minute teaser for Lost man J.J. Abrams’ top secret monster movie, which has been codenamed Cloverfield 1-18-08.
Having gone to such elaborate lengths to keep details of his $15 million big-screen foray under wraps, Abrams was mightily miffed earlier this month when www.slash.com reproduced the “day 33 of 33” call sheet for the flick.
Among the revelations is that the principal characters are played by The Black Donnellys star Michael Stahl-David and Kindergarten Cop bit-parter Odette Yustman and that the Trump International Tower & Hotel were used for most of the interior shots.
You can check out the handycam trailer – which includes a great shot of the Statue of Liberty’s severed head rolling down 5th Avenue – at www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808
Sticking with movies, and there’s hours of fun to be had at www.bournestuntsimulator.com but – boo! – not on Macs.
Those of you still mourning the disappearance of Atomic Fireburst, Mighty Imps, Cherry Lips, Fireball Jawbreakers and their ilk should procede immediately to www.villagesweetshop.com, which stocks over 200 vintage tooth-rotters.
From there it’s but a mere mouse-click to www.coastrider.net/news_main.htm, which reports on how a spectacularly stupid American has coughed up $1,159 for a garage forecourt oil smudge that looks like Jesus (pictured) - if you're a born again loolah. Incidentally, we’ve a garabaldi biscuit bearing a curranty likeness of Pope Benedict XVI at HP Towers that we’re willing to let go for €20.
Which just leaves time for quick visits to www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_SEUR_u-GU (Lansdowne Road demolition timelapse); www.sickipedia.org (“A man goes into a library and asks for a book on suicide. The librarian says: 'Fuck off, you won’t bring it back'”); and the even poorer taste www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6eRN-JELg4 (“One of these kids is different, one of these kids is dead”).
