Nightmares On Wax - Heineken Green Room Sessions
The reputation of NOW promised that the beats would be breaking and the funk funky. They did not disappoint.
You know you’re in for a good night when, after what seems like the longest intro ever seen within Waterford, your main MC for the night shouts “Hello Tramore” to the somewhat bemused crowd. It was not George Evelyn’s night.
The reputation of NOW promised that the beats would be breaking and the funk funky. They did not disappoint. Old favourites such as Nights Interlude and Ethnic Majority were mixed in with some fresh numbers from the new album. It was a positively funky mix, which got the well-decorated Forum bouncing along in time to the beats.
The projections of fire, stars and Margaret Thatcher were captivating too. One tip for George Evelyn though: If you’re going to try and work the crowd, learn more than four sentences from “The Concise MC Phrasebook”. Any attempt at banter was hampered by the constant, annoying echo effect on the mic – although, it was amusing to hear someone reply with a passionate “FUCK OFF” to Evelyn’s umpteenth enquiry as to how we were feeling…
Nightmares On Wax came to Waterford and the music was fine. The MC, however, left a lot to be desired.
