Spring Themes
'Spring Themes' sees Lee focus on deeply textured, spacey sounding material, but this time round the low profile producer has gone the extra mile and injected his compositions with a previously lacking dance floor feel.
Lee Norris releases abstract material as Metamatics, but it’s really under his Norken guise that the West Country producer shines.
Like his last outing, ‘Soul Static Bureau’, Spring Themes sees Lee focus on deeply textured, spacey sounding material, but this time round the low profile producer has gone the extra mile and injected his compositions with a previously lacking dance floor feel.
The title track and ‘Northern Soul’ boast jacking, techno influenced structures, while ‘East’, ‘Fern’ and ‘The Way’ out manoeuvre the collective might of Cologne click house with hauntingly sparse beats. In fact, Spring Themes proves that, when it comes to getting your message across, the road less travelled is often the most compelling option.
