Together Is The New Alone
Costello is one Ireland’s most promising talents, a producer unafraid to turn his back on the 4/4 in favour of a more esoteric spin on electronic music.
Whatever about the music, Donnacha Costello does a fine line in album titles. Having said that, Costello is also one Ireland’s most promising talents, a producer unafraid to turn his back on the 4/4 in favour of a more esoteric spin on electronic music.
Costello’s willingness to experiment was apparent on his ‘glitch and click’ inspired debut long player, Growing Up In Public and Together sees him take this sound to a more detached, less connected conclusion. A mixture of faint, ambient sounds and hissing, crackling interference, at times Costello’s work fades away to the faintest of noises, while the likes of ‘Nothing, Still Nothing’ prove he’s capable of making truly reflective music.
