On ‘Select’ Ysatis shows he has honed and perfected his art.
Greek producer Savvas Ysatis might be signed to Tresor, the German home of everything banging, but his sound has far more in common with Berlin’s other great label, Basic Channel. Like Maurizio’s dub led, hypnotic grooves, Ysatis’ tracks revolve around a solid bass heavy rhythm. Of course this would be uninspiring and monotonous were it not for the fact that Savvas adds a variety of moods and tones to his compositions; from the Detroit depth of ‘Sex Tan’ to the acid tinged ‘Pathfinder’ and the stripped down ‘Out To Funk’, on ‘Select’ Ysatis shows he has honed and perfected his art.
