Hughes died on October 16th, aged 51.
In attendance at the funeral at Islington and Camden Cemetery, London were comedians such as Bob Mortimer, Johnny Vegas, David Baddiel, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring and Phil Jupitus.
Described as a "cheerful" ceremony, with humourous eulogies being given by friends and family, including his two brothers, Alan and Martin, Hughes' own poetry was read too, including one work titled 'Death'. Also played was music by Lily Allen and aptly, the Smiths' 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'.
Hughes first came to prominence when, at the age of 24 he became the youngest recipient of the Perrier Comedy Aawards, now known as the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, for his stand-up show, A One Night Stand With Sean Hughes.
He died as a result of liver cirrhosis, according to reports.
