Justice League actor says to expect a badass James Gordon
JK Simmons aims to portray the character as “a real partner to Batman”.
Oscar-winning actor JK Simmons recently discussed his role as Commissioner James Gordon in the upcoming Justice League film.
Inspired by recent comic book depictions of the character, Simmons hopes to capture what he sees as the character’s badass side. The actor says he wants to get away from a “jolly, ineffectual” Gordon who “[just] turns on the bat signal”, preferring a Gordon who acts as “a real partner to Batman”.
Simmons will play opposite Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman in the film. Zack Snyder, whose previous credits include Cavill’s two Superman films, will return as director.
Justice League: Part 1 is slated for a 17 November 2017 release.
