The Irish filmmaker is being recognised for his efforts
The acclaimed Irish director Jim Sheridan will be honoured next month with the Legend Award at the Capri Hollywood Festival from December 27 - January 2.
The Irish filmmaker will participate in one of the festival's symposiums titled, 'The influence of the Internet in the future of motion pictures while Netflix is rocking the boat of old production and distribution rules'. Popular award-winning features Brooklyn and Room will also screen at the event.
In addition to the Legend Award, Sheridan also won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the IFTA Film & Drama Awards for his large portfolio of work, which include My Left Foot, Into The West, In the Name of the Father, The Field, The Boxer, In America, Get Rich Or Die Tryin', Brothers and Dream House. The Irish director has also received six Oscar nominations, including two for My Left Foot, three for In the Name of the Father and one for In America.
His next upcoming film will be entitled The Secret Scripture, which will detail the story of a 100-year-old woman who documents her extended stay at a mental hospital. The feature will be based on the best-selling novel of the same name.
