The Rubberbandits scoop People's Award at IFTAs

The Irish Film and Television Awards took place in Dublin over the weekend. The annual event, which was held in the Dockland's Convention Centre building, is now in its eighth year.

The big winner on the night was Irish director Juanita Wilson's debut As If I Am Not There (Octagon Films), a film which deals with crimes against women in the Bosnian war. It scooped Best Film, Best Director and Best Script.

In television drama, the fourth and final series of The Tudors was named Best Drama Series/Soap, while Irish actress Amy Huberman was awarded Best Actress in a Lead Role - Film/Television for her part in Rewind (Carbon Films).

Ray Harman scooped Best Score for Na Cloigne (ROSG), while Love/Hate writer Stuart Carolan received the IFTA for Best Writer - Television.

Another highlight of the evening saw producer Morgan O’Sullivan (The Tudors, Camelot, PS I Love You, Braveheart) receive the Outstanding Contribution to Industry award. Among the big names there to congratulate O'Sullivan were actresses Joely Richardson, Kim Cattrall and singer Joss Stone, who all travelled to Dublin for the event.

And last but not least - The People's Choice Award for Best TV Moment of 2010 went to Limerick's finest, The Rubberbandits, for the premiere of 'Horse Outside' on RTÉ's Republic of Telly!
