ControlFreak release for World Mental Health Day
'Inside' will be available as a completely FREE download...
Outspoken Dublin dark indie outfit ControlFreak aim to heighten public awareness about suicide prevention with the release of new single 'Inside' on Thursday October 10 to coincide with World Mental Health Day.
The band "wish to highlight the apathy of the Irish politicians/government
and the HSE to this serious problem, which is decimating families and communities all over Ireland and beyond."
'Inside' will be available as a free download from [link]controlfreaksex.com[/link] with the band encouraging downloaders to make a voluntary donation to a charity of their choice. A list of ControlFreak-approved charities are available on the band's website.
Speaking to Hot Press recently, singer and guitarist Paul Chaney discussed the impact that depression has played on his own life.
“There was a huge thing in my head that I was a freak and I felt disconnected from society,” he noted. “I did seek help but I did feel I was weak as a male for wanting to discuss those things. The idea is that as a man you deal with your own problems, but in reality that’s bullshit – nobody is an island and at times everybody needs help. I think that comes from the pervasive stigma attached to mental health illness in Ireland.”
