Hot Press Track of the Day: Aislinn Logan's 'Spree'
Today's track of the day is 'Spree' by Belfast native Aislinn Logan.
'Spree' has been causing a stir since its release, being named Track of the Week on 2FM and gaining significant airplay.
Logan describes music as "the second language of my family", and growing up in such a musical environment - admittedly raised on "a sonic diet of Phil Collins, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac and Van Morrison" - has fostered in her a keen talent for songwriting.
'Spree' explores the idea we've all considered at least once in a relationship - do we really know the person we love? 'Spree', she says, is about "daring someone to let you in a bit more, trying to prise them open."
"No matter how close you get to someone, you will never know absolutely everything there is to know about them", Logan says. "You'll never know what's happening in their head, what they're actually thinking. Maybe there's a nihilism to that - but it's also important, there's a secret there, a self-sufficiency you'll always hold onto. A thing no one will ever really know."
