Inside Shaefri’s FaceTime photoshoot

When Shaefri answered the video call from her apartment in London, I had everything ready in the room for the photoshoot. It was an extra busy morning for her as the Irish-Egyptian songwriter released her first EP that day, so the photoshoot had to be as quick and dinamic as possible.

The main theme was going to be linked to her roots, with a handmade papyrus I got in a shop in Cairo last year as a background for her photo surrounded by her instruments, as well as a figure of Horus I found at the Khan el-Khalili market used as a prop. To frame the image, I included pieces of paper with the lyrics of Say You’ll Be There, one of the tracks included on her EP, Girl.
