Dire Straits: before and after Mark Knopfler’s bandana

The very first issue of Hot Press was getting fresh ink at the print when these London based rockers started gigging and nowadays Dire Straits (inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018) is well known for its cool dad guitar riffs and their frontman, Mark Knopfler, has been building a solo career since 1987 that gathered a fan base of the bandana rock hero that follow him in worldwide tours.

Through the photographs we have saved in our photo archive we’re looking at those years of sneakers and blazers on and off stage with black & white snaps shot by Colm Henry, Fiona Preston, Robbie Jones and other photographers that met Knopfler's boys at their best.
