LISTEN: Steve Wickham premieres his new single 'Stopping By Woods'

Taking license with the authorial voice and layering twanging, bluesy guitars and Steve's virtuosic violin skills over the verses, Steve brings a new perspective to the American poetic and songwriting tradition.

Speaking about the new single, Steve said: “I wrote the music for 'Stopping by Woods' in the mid 90s after discovering Robert Frost’s poem in a dusty old poetry book at a friend’s cottage in the wilds of county Mayo. Instead of the eminent Princeton Poet Frost telling the tale, I imagined a Native American rider pausing at the edge of the Woods. The woods, what a great metaphor for the obscure? Mike Scott recorded a great vocal in his studio at Puck Towers. I added a string section in Sligo.”

'Stopping By Woods' is from Steve's newest album Beekeeper, which will be released on May 12 and can be pre-ordered here.
