The band played "Running To Stand Still" in honour of Cornell at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
During their Saturday night gig at the Rose Bowl in L.A, Bono took the time to acknowledge the passing of Soundgarden's Chris Cornell. Bono called Cornell a “beautiful, sweet soul” and paid respects to his wife and family, saying “For the lion that was Chris Cornell, we send a prayer to his lioness.” Bono dedicated the night's performance of "Running To Stand Still" a song that famously deals with the topics of depression and addiction, to Cornell. Before the band took to the stage, Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” was played through the stadium speakers at full blast.
Sadly, U2 never had the chance to perform with Cornell, though Cornell was clearly a fan, as he creatively mashed up U2's "One" with the Metallica song of the same name during an acoustic gig back in 2013. Watch the video from that performance below.
