ZAINAB releases new single 'Her Eyes'

Pakistan-born, New York-based DJ ZAINAB, formerly known as ZEEMUFFIN, has released a new single.
Titled 'Her Eyes,' the song samples 'Ayonha' by Libyan-Egyptian singer-songwriter Hamid Al Shaeri. The track debuted at ZAINAB's Coachella performance earlier this month, where she played the DoLab B2B with DJ Habibibeats.
"After diving deep into the world of the legendary Habibi Funk label, I instantly knew I wanted to sample Hamid El Shaeri in a song somehow - his voice and nostalgic melodies are sample gold," she said.
"I never thought we'd be able to clear this sample, and in that way it feels like a huge honour and responsibility. I know this song means so much to so many people across the Arab world, particularly Egypt and Libya, and I'm grateful that I was able to reimagine it for the modern dance floor," she added.
ZAINAB's early productions included club edits that mixed influences from baile funk and vintage Bollywood. Now, her most recent music reflects on New York's hip-hop and underground electronic scenes blended with her South Asian roots.
'Her Eyes' follows the release of her debut single 'Jadoo' in March. On May 30, she is set to play at London's Dialled In South Asian underground music and arts festival.
