We’re Not Strangers
Sturdy debut from Cork hard-rock outfit
Only together for a couple of years, this Midleton four-piece trade in no-nonsense, heads-down, hard-edged rock. Having built a loyal live following and put out a pair of well-received EPs, their debut album comes much more fully-formed than might otherwise be expected from an outfit so young. They certainly mean business. From the opening bars of the title-track it’s clear Time Is A Thief are deadly serious about their craft.
The playing is tight, and the arrangements, especially in the vocals department, are impeccable. Tracks such as ‘Eyes’ and ‘Keep Running’ boast dynamic riffage with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. There are echoes of Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters, so they’re wisely treading a well worn path, rather than trying to re-invent the hard-rock wheel. A compelling debut.
