WATCH: Trailer for new Irish film 'The Randomers'
Intriguing new project from award-winning director set for 2014 release...
Irish auteur Graham Jones (The Green Marker Scare, Fudge 44) has released the trailer for his fourth feature The Randomers.
Set for release next year, the film tells the story of a girl on the west coast of Ireland (Sarah Jane Murphy of trad band The Murphy Sisters) who places an ad seeking a guy for a relationship "without speaking". The guy (Joseph Lydon) turns out to be just what she's looking for.
"There's something about him she doesn't know," says Jones. "But he's not going to be chatty about it. I've always wondered why romantic movies are so dialogue-driven! After all, even the most verbose relationships don't seem deeply rooted in words..."
Filmed in Galway and Mayo earlier this year, The Randomers was shot on a shoe-string budget and features local actors, musicians and scenery.
"It was such a wonderful experience," says Sarah Jane Murphy. "It helped me grow as an actor and indeed as a person."
"We made a movie about a relationship that didn't need words," adds co-star Lydon. "I think it will speak volumes."
