Van the Man at 71
This time last year, Van Morrison was lining up for an intimate concert on the tree-lined streets of Cypress Avenue in Belfast to celebrate his 70th birthday. This year, the soul sorcerer is preparing to release his 36th studio album.
The appropriately titled Keep Me Singing shows that Van Morrison has no intention of slowing down his musical output. Ahead of his birthday tomorrow, we look back through our archives at some classic interviews with the music legend.
Back in March, 2000, Van Morrison charted the course of his early music career with Niall Stokes and spoke about the inspiration behind his seminal album, Astral Weeks. You can read the full interview here
This interview, held back in 2003, sees Van Morrison talk about What’s Wrong With the Picture?, his first record on the legendary jazz label, Blue Note.
