Ulster film fest launches programme
The 6th Mid Ulster Film Festival will take place from May 1–3 in the spectacular Ulster History Park, Omagh, screening over 80 films, with Q&As and fancy dress events.
The 35-acre location will include a theatre, restaurant, on-site cottages, campsite and a large custom-built truck which converts to a 100 seater cinema for its festival goers.
Omagh actor Gerard McSorley (Braveheart, In The Name Of The Father, The Tudors) is set to return to his home town to officially open the event.
Some of the highlights over the weekend include a screening of the Horslips documentary Return Of The Dancehall Sweethearts, with a question and answer session with Barry Devlin and Maurice Linnane. Other events include an Italian-themed Opening Gala where guests are asked to dress up as their favourite movie characters along with live performances by artists such as Alberto Gariglio, Noni Stapelton and Keith McDermott.
Priding itself on linking the studio and independent filmmaking communities through its range of programming, the Mid Ulster Film Fest has proved an enjoyable cinematic treat for film fans since its birth in 2004.
Over 80 films will be screened over the course of the weekend, with the classic Cinema Paradiso kicking things off on.
