UK band Cassia announce tour date at Whelan’s
UK-based beachy band Cassia have announced a show at Whelan’s on Friday 1 November. Named after the album itself, the Replica tour will see band members Rob Ellis (lead vocals and guitar), Lou Cotterill (bass and vocals) and Jacob Leff (drums and vocals) play in Ireland for the first time ever.
Cassia’s calypso sound has been described by Clash as something that “transforms even the dreariest of days into a feel good carnival.” The band’s vibe is a blend of indie pop bands like Foals and Vampire Weekend with jazz-tinged afrobeats like those of Fela Kuti and Ebo Taylor. Cassia also takes inspiration from American folk influences like Paul Simon.
Rob Adcock from BBC Introducing has spoken of Cassia as “one of the most exciting bands to come out of Manchester in years.” As Gigwise has said, Cassia is “on a mission to spread positivity.”
Tickets will go on sale on Friday 29 March at 10am for €15.00 each including booking fee. Doors open at 8pm. This event is over 18s only and will require IDs.
