Ugly Side Of Love
A semi-melted rock melting pot of musical stuff
A sometimes reggae influenced, sometimes rock-influenced vocal, a hyperactive heavy-hitting drummer who’s not always listening to the music, random synth interludes, piano breaks, weird samples, rough harmonies, cheering studios, organ spillages, mariachi trumpets, lazy acoustic guitars all strewn haphazardly on a bed of power chords and done with a slipshod attitude that somehow suggests whimsical genius rather than half-arsed half-talent. Malachai have produced something kind of great. It occasionally reminds me of Death in Vegas, sometimes reminds me of Badfinger, but it’s all good.
