U2 Phoenix Park Plans Denied
Hotpress.com investigate the rumours of U2 & The Phoenix Park ... (they just don't go away you know)...
The government department responsible for the Phoenix Park has denied a News Of The World report that U2 will be playing there during summer.
Speaking last night to HOTPRESS.COM, Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands spokesman Declan Bale said: "There are no plans to stage a U2 concert. My colleagues have had quite a few phone calls from people inquiring about tickets, but we've had to tell them, 'Sorry, nothing happening'."
It's the same story from Dublin Corporation who said they've had "no planning application involving U2 or the Phoenix Park", and the band's own PR company who "don't know anything about it."
There's slightly better news for U2's Northern fans with Bono revealing that they're hoping to revisit Belfast.
"We loved performing there during the PopMart tour," he told the Belfast Newsletter, "and would like to go back. It's been strange because it's one of our favourite places yet it's also one of the places we always miss. There are plans for a number of concerts but we're still discussing how we can do it and if it's possible."
