U2 honoured for humanitarian work
U2 are to be honoured by the Portugeuse government this weekend when the Vertigo tour stops off in Lisbon.
President Jorge Sampaio will present them with the Order Of Liberty in recognition of their pioneering humanitarian work.
“Over the past 25 years the band have allied their public exposure to the defence of human rights,” says a Presidential aide.
Meanwhile, the U2 rumour mill suggests that Bono has written a song for the end credits of new Wim Wenders movie, Don’t Come Knocking, which premieres on August 25. Even more enticingly, our sources suggest that Andrea Corr has lent a hand with the vocals.
